Synced Cancer Initiative
An SOP session in a Nigerian secondary school

Teach a class,reach a household.

Why we walk into classrooms02 / 04

Both numbers are about the same ten people.

7 in 10cancer cases in Nigeria are diagnosed at a late stage, when treatment costs the most and works the least.

3 to 5of those 10 cancer cases diagnosed could have been prevented, or caught early enough to change the outcome. That is what a session is for.

What our program looks like03 / 04

Fourteen dates onyour calendar. That is the wholeprogramme.

Three are HealthSync Days, once a term, when the programme takes over the school for a half day. The other eleven are SyncSquad meetings, one a month, run by the students themselves.

HealthSync Day3Once a term. The programme takes over the school for a half day and reaches hundreds of students at once.
SyncSquad meeting11Once a month, all year. Student officers and a staff adviser, with our coordinator in the room for every one.
We open the door three times a year. The students keep it open the other eleven.
